The biggest changes we have made are the addition of an intervention area to work with small groups of students to support or enrich their learning, and the creation of a shared classroom library with Ms. Menard's students. Ms. Menard and I have opened up a portion of our classroom wall (difficult to see in the classroom photos) in order to easily share students back and forth and share a larger library area with many cozy reading spaces for reading to self and reading with a buddy. We will soon begin grouping the two classes together on occasion for morning meeting and calendar. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience different teaching styles and develop stronger relationships with fellow first graders at WPS.
