Animals at School

As most of you already know, my teaching team works closely together. We often share students and do activities together. Ms. Menard and I work most closely, as we have adjoining classrooms. This offers a special experience for students this year, as Ms. Menard's class has a new class pet! They welcomed Lilith, the leopard gecko into their classroom last week. Students in both classrooms are able to observe the gecko at times throughout the day and learn about her from Ms. Menard.

Ms. Menard has many many reptiles at her home, and loves to share her knowledge with us at school. Another way she does this is by bringing one of her pets to school each Friday throughout the school year (except during the winter). Students are not allowed to touch any of the animals, but can look at them and learn about them. We brought our two classes together this past Friday for our first reptile visitor. Students were amazed to learn that the snake only eats once per week! They were also intrigued by the snake's unique pattern - starting with spots near the head and moving into a striped pattern towards the end.
