Penny Plate - Math Game

Today we learned another partner math game to help reinforce fluency with complements of 10 facts. Below are the directions for play.

Directions
  1. Partnerships gather 10 pennies and a plate to begin play.
  2. Partner A hides some pennies under the plate and places the rest on top, while Partner B closes their eyes.
  3. Partner B counts the pennies on top of the plate and determines the number of pennies that are hiding. If they are correct, they get a point.
  4. Partners switch roles and continue play.
  5. The game ends when one player reaches 5 points. They are the winner.

**Game can be adapted to play with more than 10 pennies. You also can play without the point system and play simply for practice with math facts. This is how we played in class.
